PCC Opens Up Decision Making Forum

21ain Ebrill 2015

Chaired by Gwent PCC Ian Johnston, the Strategy and Performance Board (SPB) is responsible for monitoring the performance of Gwent Police Force and how it effectively delivers its service against his Police and Crime Plan. Standard items on the agenda include the performance and delivery of operational policing; the management of the budget and resources; the addressing of any community concerns about policing; and updates on on-going critical incidents and strategic threats and risks.

To support the effectiveness of these meetings and provide better transparency and public accountability, the Commissioner reviewed the monitoring requirements and decided to reduce the frequency of Strategy and Performance Board meetings for 2015/16. In addition, from April 2015, all scheduled meetings will now be open for members of the public to attend, with the impact of these changes being monitored in the coming year.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Ian Johnston, said: "Transparency is essential as I am held to account at a local level by the public. It has been important to me from day one as Commissioner to be as open and transparent as possible. These meetings provide an opportunity for the public to see how I am holding the Chief Constable to account to ensure he delivers a policing service which meets the requirements of the community."

All meetings of the SPB are held in Conference Room 1, Police Headquarters, Cwmbran and will commence at 10am unless otherwise stated.

The latest meeting dates for 2015 are as follows:

  • 26th May
  • 4th August
  • 29th September
  • 19th November

Meeting dates for 2016 are as follows:

  • 26th January
  • 29th March

Members of the public and the media are NOT required to register their attendance prior to the meeting.
