Gwent PCC comments on the Policy Exchange document 'Policing 2020: What kind of police service do we want in 2020?'

12fed Rhagfyr 2012

"Dealing with incidents of crime and anti social behaviour is what warranted Police officers, and in some cases Community Support Officers (CSOs) are trained to do.

"There's a danger that a scheme such as this could lead to members of the public being seen as possible replacements for Police officers. The public would be better off if the Government used any money ear marked for this scheme to increase funding for policing so that well trained Police Officers and CSOs can get on with their jobs of keeping the public safe and reassured."
