Budget Consultation Events Announced

22ain Rhagfyr 2015

All of the 'Have Your Say' consultation events due to be hosted on Monday January 11th 2016 have been cancelled due to a low number of people registering their interest in attending the events to justify the cost of hosting them. The events were being organised to help inform Ian Johnston's considerations when setting next year's budget (2016/17) and the level of his Precept (the proportion of the cost of policing paid from your council tax).

Please note that all events organised for the following locations on Monday January 11th have now been cancelled:

  • Ty Mynyddislwyn Environment Centre, Blackwood, NP12 2BH - 10am-12pm
  • Abergavenny Community Centre, Abergavenny, NP7 5YB - 2pm-4pm
  • Newport Centre (Castle Suite), Newport, NP20 1UH - 6pm-8pm

In place of the events, the Commissioner will be providing further opportunities for members of the public to have their say by running a short 'Have Your Say' consultation online and he is urging people to take part and share their thoughts on how much they would be willing to pay for their policing service. The consultation will go live on the Commissioner's website from 9am on Tuesday January 12th 2016 www.gwent.pcc.police.uk Mr Johnston would like to thank those who showed an interest in attending the events and is urging anyone who has any comments which will help inform his considerations around setting the budget for policing in Gwent next financial year to take part in the online survey. We apologise for any inconvenience.
