Strategic partner seminar success

21ain Medi 2012

The event follows on from a successful public consultation which saw Gwent residents take the opportunity to comment on current policing priorities and the way performance will be measured.

Yesterday's event saw 45 representatives from a variety South Wales based organisations attend Police HQ in Croesyceiliog. Each organisation provides services to the public, and the event was an opportunity to discuss ways of working even closer together to improve services.

In addition to the discussion sessions three keynote speakers addressed the event. Gwent Police Authority Chief Executive Shelley Bosson gave a presentation relating to how the election of a Police and Crime Commissioner will affect the way priorities for policing in Gwent will be decided in the future.

Deputy Chief Constable Jeff Farrar gave an overview about the current policing priorities and how they have been formulated. In addition Nigel Stephens, who is the Gwent Police Director of Finance and Resources, outlined the current position on commissioning services which will be the responsibility of the future Police and Crime Commissioner.

Feedback from delegates who attended was very positive. The event was described as informative, relevant, interesting and positive. The key findings and issues raised during the day will be available to view via the Gwent Police Authority website from 28 September onwards.
