Police and Crime Commissioner welcomes government funding for PPE

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert, has welcomed the news that police forces will be reimbursed by the UK Government for medical grade personal protective equipment bought to manage the Covid-19 crisis.

Jeff Cuthbert said: “I am pleased that the UK Government has acknowledged the significant costs police forces have incurred to equip officers appropriately during the Covid-19 crisis.

“Having the correct PPE available for has been crucial to ensure the welfare of police officers, staff and the public.

“It is reassuring that we will not have to find the additional money for this equipment from our already stretched budget.”
