Police and Crime Commissioner has praised the work of the armed forces

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert, has praised the work of the armed forces.

Speaking ahead of Armed Forces Day on Saturday 27 June, he said: “I would like to thank our armed forces, serving troops, service families, veterans and cadets for their continued commitment and dedication to protect our country.

“It has become apparent in recent times how important the work of the forces has been in coping with the pandemic. From helping to build temporary hospitals to providing essential help to communities in lockdown, they have worked in partnership with the public services to keep our communities safe.

“In normal circumstances, a range of events would be taking place to mark the day. However, as it is important that we adhere to Welsh Government guidance on social distancing to help combat Covid-19, I ask you to take a moment to reflect how much we owe to our armed forces instead.”

There is a wealth of advice and support for service families and veterans no matter where you live in Gwent:
