PCC holds rural surgery

11th October 2019

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert, has met with farmers and agricultural workers at the weekly livestock market in Monmouthshire.

The visit took place during Rural Crime Week, a national event that aims to draw more attention to rural issues.

He was joined by the Gwent Police Rural Crime Team which was set up in January 2019 as a dedicated resource to tackle rural, heritage and wildlife crimes.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jeff Cuthbert said: “This was a great opportunity to meet with farmers and others working in our rural communities, and take the time to listen to their concerns.

“Rural crime may not have the same profile as other crime types but those it affects it is no less important. While there is always more work to do I am reassured that Gwent Police are taking proactive steps to protect our rural communities.”
