Visit to Shree Swaminarayan Hindu Temple
I was pleased to attend the Shree Swaminarayan Temple with officers and staff from Gwent Police.
I received a warm welcome from Mr Pradyuman Halai, Vice President of the temple.
The visit was coordinated by Gwent Police’s Diversity and Inclusion Team to celebrate South Asian Heritage month and was one of a series of visits to places of worship in South Wales to raise awareness of the month.
I certainly gained a greater understanding of the Hindu religion and culture.
Policing is committed to improving links with all our communities.
Showing support and a commitment to understand different perspectives is vital in breaking down barriers and building trust between the police and our diverse communities.
It is so important to immerse ourselves in our multi-cultural society and use the insights we gather strengthen our work.
