UK Government announces funding to increase the use of Taser

I welcome the opportunity to bid for government funding which would help to support Gwent Police’s current plans to increase the number of Taser-trained officers within the force.
However, it is important to realise that this funding is for equipment only, and police forces will have to pay for training and associated costs from their own budgets.
By the end of March 2020 Gwent Police will have 320 Taser-trained officers.
The safety of the public and Gwent Police officers will be at the forefront of any decision made regarding the bid for funding.
