Student police officers graduate
This week 55 new Gwent Police officers have formally graduated from the policing educational qualifications framework (PEQF).
The PEQF gives applicants the chance to study for an academic qualification, supported by the University of Wales Trinity St David, while undertaking their police training.
This enables police officers to raise their professional standards in the light of the constantly changing nature of crime and also allows recruits to learn as they earn.
These officers have done incredibly well. Studying for an academic degree alongside the practical training a police officer must undertake is not easy. I would like to congratulate them all on their success and wish them well for their future careers.
