Protect your business from cyber-attacks

7th January 2022

Businesses in Gwent are being urged to sign up to the Police Cyber Alarm scheme to help protect their networks from cyber-attacks.

The scheme is government funded and offers near real-time monitoring of cyber threats, providing businesses with regular reports that highlight any vulnerabilities within the organisation.

It will also help the police to identify national trends in cyber-crime across the UK.

Crucially, no user data or personal information from the business is collected and the alarm is fully GDPR compliant.

Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert, said: “Cyber criminals are evolving and businesses must ensure that they stay up to date with the latest safety information and advice.

“The Police Cyber Alarm is an extremely useful tool in the battle against cyber-crime and I would urge businesses in Gwent to sign up and protect themselves against this growing threat.”

For more information and to sign up for the Police Cyber Alarm email Tarian-RCCU@south-wales.pnn.police.uk stating ‘Cyber Alarm’ in the subject line.

Please include the organisation’s name, address, and a name and position for the point of contact.

Detective Superintendent Nick Wilkie, the force’s cyber-crime lead said: “Cyber-attacks are a very real threat for businesses and it’s important that we all remember to stay safe while we are online. This initiative is a great opportunity for businesses within Gwent to improve their cyber security by receiving regular reports of suspected malicious cyber activity.

“For further advice on how to stay safe online, you can follow the Gwent Police Cyber Crime Team @GPCyberCrime on Twitter. We would encourage anyone who has been a victim of online fraud to please report it to us on 101 or Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.”
