National VAWDASV advisers appointed
I welcome the Welsh Government’s latest appointments to the role of National Adviser for Violence Against Women, Gender Based Violence, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV).
New appointment Johanna Robinson has more than 25 years working in social justice roles, including a number of years as head of strategy in my own office and leading Gwent Police’s victims’ hub, Connect Gwent, before that.
I can personally attest to her hard work, determination, and passion for ensuring that victims of crime receive the best possible services to help them through their criminal justice journey and move forward with their lives. Her passion and breadth of knowledge will be a huge asset to the Welsh Government.
She will share the role with Yasmin Khan who has served as advisor for the past four years and has been reappointed for another term.
You could not find two stronger champions for victims of these appalling crimes, and I am confident that together they will ensure that the voice of the victim remains at the heart of government decision making in Wales.
I must also pass on my thanks to Nazir Afzal OBE who finishes his term as national advisor in July for the contribution he has made in the role since 2018.
