Meeting Blaenavon’s Heddlu Bach

14th June 2022

It was a pleasure to visit Blaenavon Heritage School recently to meet with the school’s Heddlu Bach unit.

Blaenavon has a very proactive Heddlu Bach unit which meets at least once a week and carries out activities such as parking patrols outside the school, and litter picking in the town centre.

The children spent an hour grilling me on my role as Commissioner for a podcast which will be available on the school’s website shortly.

Building trust between young people and the police is essential.

The Heddlu Bach scheme helps achieve this and gives children the opportunity to make new friends and develop new skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
