Hundreds of runners take part in annual police event
Hundreds of runners representing police forces across the UK have taken part in the annual Police Sport UK 10-mile race, which this year was hosted by Gwent Police.
The race was started by Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd and encompassed a 10-mile loop around Cwmcarn Forest Drive.
More than 380 runners took part in the race with Kieran Clements from the Metropolitan Police Service coming first for the men, and Natasha Wilson from the Norfolk Constabulary coming in as first lady.
Heddlu Bach from Waunfawr Primary School in Newport also took part in a special mini police race ahead of the main event, and all money raised went towards supporting St David’s Hospice Care.
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “It was fantastic to see so many representatives from police forces across the UK coming here to compete. Gwent has some fantastic scenery, with the landscape around Cwmcarn being some of the most beautiful, so this was a great opportunity to showcase the very best of Gwent.
“It was a very tough course, and I must congratulate everyone who took part and helped to raise much needed funding for St David’s Hospice Care.”
