Have your say on policing priorities for Gwent

5th August 2021

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert, is asking residents for their views on local policing.

The information will be used to inform the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan which will set out the strategic priorities for policing in Gwent.

Jeff Cuthbert said: “I want to know your views on what Gwent Police’s priorities should be. I am developing my new Police and Crime Plan and need your help to shape it.

“Much has changed since I produced my last plan in 2017. The daily demands on policing have continued to grow. The threat from criminality such as serious and organised crime and cyber crime has risen. The scale of domestic abuse, rape and sexual violence is now better understood. I must balance the needs and concerns of local people with the potential threat, risk and harm to our communities from these broader issues, while at all times considering the needs and well-being of the victims of these crimes.

“I’m currently looking at the following proposed priorities for Gwent Police:

  • Combat serious crime
  • Drive sustainable policing
  • Increase community confidence in policing
  • Keep neighbourhoods safe
  • Support victims and protect the vulnerable

“Please take some time to complete the survey and have your say. It should take less than 10 minutes to complete and the feedback is invaluable.”
