College of Policing launches new leadership standards for officers

I welcome the new leadership standards launched by the College of Policing.

Policing needs high quality leaders at every rank and grade, and these new standards will ensure that leadership training is delivered to police officers at every level.

It is a long-term investment in the leadership of the future and is one of the ways in which we can ensure that we have the right people with the right attitudes leading our police service.

As a former Welsh Government minister for skills and technology I am passionate about professional development and sharing knowledge and good practice.

These opportunities should never be limited to certain positions or ranks. For an organisation to succeed you must work on raising the skills and abilities of every employee.

I currently sit as a non-executive board member for the college, and I look forward to hearing more about how this scheme progressing.
