Children and Young People across Gwent launch their Curriculum 4 Life

Children and young people from Gwent’s regional youth forum launched their ‘Curriculum 4 Life’ (C4L) video this week in front of Assembly Ministers and the Children’s Commissioner for Wales.

The event, sponsored by Hefin David AM and funded by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, provided the official launch for the C4L video which sees young people from across Gwent petition Welsh Government to make key life skills a compulsory part of the education programme in Wales.

Speaking at the launch, regional youth forum members Imogen and Emily Jones said “We as a forum think it’s vital that young people across Gwent are taught the essential life skills they need in order to lead success lives.

“Having the opportunity to present this video to key decision makers here in Cardiff Bay reassures us that our voices are being heard and that together, we can make a difference.”

On funding the event, Gwent Police and Crime Commissioner Jeff Cuthbert said “It is a pleasure to fund the launch of the C4L video.

“Providing young people with the chance to have their voices heard is vital to ensuring we develop public services which are fit for our future generations. I hope that this launch event provided the young people of Gwent with that opportunity.”

The topic of C4L was voted a priority for the Gwent regional youth forum last year following the ‘Mark Your Mark’ vote. A UK vote amongst young people which gives them a say on what is debated on the green benches of the House of Commons, by Members of Youth Parliament.
