Threads, Tastes and Traditions
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd joined residents at Community House in Newport for a cross-cultural celebration of food, fashion and music.
The event, Threads, Tastes and Traditions, featured a fashion show showcasing traditional dress from a range of cultures, along with cookery demonstrations, music workshops and storytelling.
Hosted by Age Alive, it aimed to challenge age-based stereotypes and bring the community together to promote creativity, wellbeing and inclusion.
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “It was really lovely to join the local community in celebration of their many different cultures and traditions.
“Age Alive does such good work creating an encouraging and inclusive environment that supports our older residents, helping them feel valued, connected and confident within their community.
“At a time when so many people are trying to drive division between us, it was both heartening and reassuring to see that the community spirit here is alive and well.”
