Spooky activities for children and young people in Newport
Youth led arts organisation and Police and Crime Commissioner funded project Urban Circle is pulling out the stops to provide a series of spectacular Halloween workshops for children and young people across Newport.
Children and young people can take part in spooky craft sessions, dance tutorials, games and special effect make up sessions.
- Wednesday 27 October 3pm – 5pm, over 13’s Maesglas Community Centre,
- Thursday 28 October 2pm – 4pm, all ages Ringland Community Centre,
- Friday 29 October 4pm – 6pm, all ages Pillgwenlly Millennium Centre
The workshops have been coordinated by the youth management board, a group of passionate young people who are working with Urban Circle project coordinators to plan events and activities for children and young people.
Members of the youth management board have been involved in every step of the planning process. By doing so they have been empowered and have learnt a range of new skills from graphic design and budgeting, to project management.
Police and Crime Commissioner, Jeff Cuthbert said: “Halloween can be a troubling time for residents as anti-social behaviour can take place by some - not all young people.
“I am pleased that Urban Circle is providing children and young people with a range of activities to keep them safe from harm and off the streets. It is inspiring to see young people leading the way and planning activities for their peers. This is true youth participation.”
