ShopKind this Christmas
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has welcomed the festive ShopKind campaign that encourages kindness and respect towards shopworkers across the UK throughout the Christmas period.
ShopKind is backed by the Home Office and supported by major high street retailers as well as the nation’s independent shopkeepers, and the shopworkers union Usdaw.
The aim of the campaign is to encourage positive behaviours in shops, acknowledge the important role of shopworkers and raise awareness about the scale and impact of violence and abuse against shopworkers.
Commissioner Mudd said: “I welcome the ongoing support for shopworkers over Christmas.
“I have personally been out and about in Gwent over the last few weeks to show my support for USDAW, and have been speaking to workers about the things they have experienced.
“There is simply no excuse for violence and abuse towards our shop workers, and I would urge the public to be kind, and retailers to report instances directly to Gwent Police.”
