PCC celebrates StreetSoc champions

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd was pitch-side last weekend to crown Scorpions FC as champions of StreetSoc 2025, following a nail-biting final at Pill Millennium Centre.

StreetSoc is a weekly eight-a-side football league run by the Bengal Dragons Foundation, held over the summer at Pill Millennium Centre.

Teams from across Newport came together to complete in the league, which aims to promote healthy lifestyles, bring communities together, and steer young people away from antisocial behaviour.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd sponsored this year’s league. She said: “I am proud to have supported this fantastic tournament, and it was brilliant to see the teams battle it out in such a competitive and spirited final. Huge congratulations to Scorpions FC whose hard work and determination over the past seven weeks truly shone through.

“StreetSoc is exactly the kind of grassroots initiative that makes a real difference in our communities. It brings people from across the city together through the shared passion of football and encourages healthy competition in a fun environment.

“The passion and dedication shown by all the teams has been inspiring, and I sincerely hope StreetSoc returns next year even bigger and better.”
