Heddlu Bach pupils shine bright in the Commissioner’s official Christmas card competition

Pupils from Heddlu Bach schools across Gwent recently took part in a competition to design the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent’s official Christmas card.

The children were asked by Commissioner Jane Mudd to incorporate messages of love and unity for their community in their designs. More than 280 entries were received, and the winning design was created by Noah, a pupil at Pengam Primary School in Caerphilly.

Pupils from Coed Eva Primary School and Crindau Primary School, Georgia and Nyla, were also presented with prizes and certificates for their designs. Over 30 pupils also received Highly Commended certificates.

Heddlu Bach is a scheme for primary school children in years five and six. The initiative helps children and schools to tackle local issues, highlighted by the children, in their own community. It encourages community cohesion and pupils are supported by Gwent Police which helps to break down barriers and instil trust in the police from an early age.

Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jane Mudd said: “I would like to thank all the pupils who took part. It was very tough to choose my favourite as there were so many outstanding designs.

“I would also like to thank Gwent Police’s NXT Gen team who supported the competition and encouraged the Heddlu Bach schools to take part.”
