Criminal Justice Strategy Board development day
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has brought together partners from policing and the wider criminal justice system to discuss how they can work more closely together to deliver the priorities in her Police, Crime and Justice Plan.
Representatives from the Criminal Justice Strategy Board, which includes Gwent Police, the Crown Prosecution Service, prison service, youth justice service, and South Wales Fire and Rescue, discussed key issues and explored ways of working more collaboratively.
The board is chaired by the Commissioner and exists to provide a fair, efficient and effective criminal justice system across Gwent. It aims to prevent, reduce and respond to crime and anti-social behaviour, while also focusing on the needs of victims and witnesses.
Commissioner Mudd said: “Tackling crime and antisocial behaviour is not just the responsibility of policing and that is why building and maintaining effective partnerships is crucial to respond to these issues effectively.
“My role is uniquely placed to bring partners together to improve outcomes for the people of Gwent. This was a valuable session to set out my Police, Crime and Justice Plan and ensure that our partnership work going forward will align to support the priorities of the plan.”
