Community projects across Gwent to benefit from PCC funding

11th May 2026

Community projects across Gwent will benefit from more than £800,000 in funding allocated by Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd for 2026–27.

A total of 16 projects have been awarded grants following successful bids to the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Community Fund, while a further 13 projects have received second- and third-year funding.

The projects support the priorities set out in the Commissioner’s Police, Crime and Justice Plan and are partially funded using money recovered from the proceeds of crime. Community groups can apply to the fund for grants ranging from £1,000 to £50,000 to support local initiatives.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “Many of these projects support children and young people, giving them safe spaces to go and positive activities to take part in outside school hours. Others provide help and assistance to those who have been victims of crime or aim to build bridges between communities and public services.

“By supporting our communities in this way, we are complementing frontline policing and helping to reduce demand on police officers. By tackling antisocial behaviour, for example, we are freeing officers up to spend more time addressing threats that pose a wider risk to our communities, such as domestic abuse or organised crime.

“Our communities often know what is needed most to address the issues in their area, but to develop projects and initiatives they need the right support. I am proud to be able to support our communities, using money recovered from criminal activity to help build a fairer, safer society for everyone.”
