Commissioner publishes first annual report

16th September 2025

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd has published her annual report, reflecting on a transformative first year in office.

The report showcases a series of key achievements that have laid the foundations for a safer, fairer Gwent. These include:

  • Appointing a new Chief Constable to lead Gwent Police
  • Developing and launching a new Police, Crime and Justice Plan for Gwent
  • Setting the police budget to deliver on the plan’s priorities
  • Investing significantly in services that support victims of crime
  • Championing diversionary schemes to help those at risk of offending or antisocial behaviour

The report also highlights the Commissioner’s commitment to transparency, accountability and community engagement, ensuring that the voices of local people are heard and reflected in policing priorities.

Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “This role has been a privilege from day one, and the opportunity to serve the people of Gwent has driven every decision I’ve made.

“In just twelve months, I’ve made three of the biggest decisions that a Police and Crime Commissioner can make: appointing a new Chief Constable, publishing my vision for policing and justice in Gwent, and setting the budget to make that vision a reality.

“My personal highlights include opening a new police facility in Abergavenny to boost neighbourhood policing in the area, and hosting a deeply moving exhibition for White Ribbon Day that really drove home to me why this work matters.

“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved in such a short time, and I promise the people of Gwent that I will continue to work tirelessly to make a real difference for their communities.”
