Commissioner Confirms Usk Station Closure to be Reviewed
This review will include consultation with the public, councillors and local officers.
Mr Johnston confirmed that no decision has been made about the future of the station, which is currently used by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team as a working base, and no decision would be made until there had been full consultation with the community and town council.
Mr Johnston said: "I can't stress enough the importance of engagement with the community and public consultation when deciding the use of police properties. There has been an ongoing review of our estate against the backdrop of meeting budget reductions. I'm looking to put in place a programme, to include engagement and communication, to take the estates strategy forward. Any decisions about the future of Gwent Police properties wont be made until local authorities, town councils and the community have had their say."
