Breaking down barriers at VIVA Fest
It was fantastic to be part of VIVA Fest, VIVA stands for Vision, Inclusion, Voice and Advocacy at the ICC in Newport.
VIVA Fest was developed by members of People First, and is a one day accessible music festival for people with learning disabilities to come together to celebrate their identity.
My team provided information about a wide range of issues including Hate Crime and provided crime prevention items to festival goers.
The event provided a brilliant opportunity to promote our Easy Read Hate Crime leaflet, which helps people with disabilities to recognaise the signs of hate crime and most importantly how to report it to the Police.
It was also an opportunity to gain feedback on an Easy Read version of my Police, Crime and Justice plan, which has been developed with Caerphilly People First.
It was amazing to see so many people and partner organisations at the event.
