Armed Forces Week
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd attended a special flag raising ceremony at County Hall in Usk to mark the start of Armed Forces week.
The Commissioner’s team also supported an event at Newport Civic Centre.
Armed Forces Week is an annual week of recognition for the Armed Forces leading up to Armed Forces Day, which this year takes place on Saturday 27 June.
Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Mudd said: “I was honoured to join partners for this ceremony to mark the start of Armed Forces Week, and proud to stand alongside our communities in recognising the service, courage and commitment of those who serve our country.
“Most of us will, thankfully, never have to experience the horrors and hardships our servicemen and women face, nor the sacrifices they and their loved ones must make to help keep us safe.
“Armed Forces Week is an important opportunity to pause, reflect and show our gratitude to everyone who has served, those who continue to serve, and the families who support them.
“On behalf of myself, and the people of Gwent that I represent, I would like to thank you all for the dedication, bravery and important service you have given to your country.”
