The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent has agreed to continue to use the Police Property Act Fund to help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour or divert people away from crime and to increase the maximum award available under the Police Property Act from £500 to £5,000.

Property which comes into the possession of the police in connection with a crime and where the owner cannot be found can be sold. The money is kept in a Police Property Act Fund; the proceeds of which can be used to make payments for charitable purposes.
