The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent has approved the Joint Sponsorship Policy and Procedure with Gwent Police.

This policy and procedure aims to:

a) Establish and maintain a consistent corporate and ethical approach when dealing with sponsors and donors;

b) Ensure the Organisation meets all legal and policy requirements;

c) Enhance all available resources in support of policing activity and reducing crime; and

d) Ensure the Organisation maintains a high degree of integrity in the acceptance of sponsorship to the Organisation.

The Organisation will accept sponsorship in the form of money, good and services in order to enhance, or compliment the operational effectiveness of the organisation.  Acceptance will be subject to rigorous scrutiny and compliance with a number of specific requirements.

The Local Government Finance Act 1992, Sections 31A, 32, 42A and 43 require ‘Billing’ and ‘Precepting’ Authorities in England and Wales to have regard to the level of reserves needed for meeting estimated future expenditure when calculating the budget requirement.  In this context, the Commissioner is a Precepting Authority.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent has agreed to extend the contract with Umbrella Cymru to provide an interim service for Children and Young People who are victims or witnesses of crime for an additional four months from 9th November 2018 unt

The PCC Police Community Fund grant scheme has been created to target the monies received through the Proceeds of Crime Act and from the sale of unclaimed, found property, so that we support organisations in some of the most disadvantaged areas in Gwen

Organisations / groups interested in bidding for a share of the £300,000 annual funding must be able to demonstrate the positive impact their project will have on the communities they serve.  The Fund is targeted at supporting organisations/groups seeking to help children and young people who may be in danger of entering the criminal justice system or have become victims.  Projects will need to deliver against the priorities in the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan.  Fundamental to these projects is the role of Neighbourhood Policing in engaging with organisations to achieve the work required. Groups will be able to apply for funding from £10,000 up to and in the region of £50,000.
