The Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent and the Chief Constable for Gwent confirmed the three provisional appointments to the Joint Audit Committee and agreed to progress with the appointment of two additional members.

The Financial Management Code of Practice for the Police Service of England and Wales requires that a Police and Crime Commissioner and Chief Constable establishes an Independent Audit Committee and recommends this should be a combined body.

Following an open recruiting process three of the five independent members of the Joint Audit Committee were appointed, subject to confirmation foloowing the election of the Police and Crime Commissioner, from the 30th September 2012 for a period of five years.
