The Commissioner has also established an annual fund of at least £150,000, which is currently designed to assist charities, voluntary organisations and community groups involved in activities that have a positive impact on the communities they serve in Gwent, whilst at the same time contributing towards delivering the Commissioner’s priorities.
This Fund is made up of monies recovered via the Proceeds of Crime Act; the Police Property Act; and where necessary, supplemented from within the Commissioner’s overall budget. A formalised bid process is administered by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), with bids scrutinised by a panel made up of representatives of the OPCC, the Force, Gwent Youth Forum, community groups and other partners.
PARTNERSHIP FUND 2016/2017
During 2013/14 monies from the Police Property Act were not incorporated into the Partnership Fund but were run as separate funding streams. The funding was combined for the 2014/15 Partnership Fund.
The second component of Tier 2 activity relates to the ‘Commissioner’s Fund’, which has been initiated to ‘pump-prime’ community initiatives and commissioning activity to meet the Commissioners priorities.
